The Altima caps out at 188 horsepower across both of its trims regardless of price, but it does offer standard AWD availability on SV and SR. Kia limits AWD to the GT-Line trim only, so AWD shoppers have more flexibility with the Altima even though the K5 wins on top-end power.

Both sedans come standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and wireless smartphone integration, a sign of how competitive this segment has become on standard tech. The 2026 Kia K5 four-trim lineup gives shoppers more configuration choices than the Altima's simplified SV and SR spread.

Nissan counters with standard wireless device charging, something the K5 only offers as an available feature. Both brands also offer their own connected-car app, giving owners remote start, vehicle locator, and maintenance alerts from a smartphone.

The 2026 Kia K5 offers a bit more room for rear-seat passengers and a roomier front row than the Altima, a slight edge in everyday comfort on longer drives. Nissan's signature zero gravity front seats remain one of the Altima's strongest selling points, engineered to reduce fatigue.

Trunk space is closely matched, with the Altima offering up to 15.4 cubic feet that expands further with standard folding rear seats. Styling differs too: the Altima's SR adds matte chrome-tone accents, while the K5 keeps a more conventional cabin with available leather upgrades.

Both sedans come with a strong standard safety suite, with the Altima's Safety Shield 360 and the 2026 Kia K5 own driver-assist features both covering automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and blind-spot monitoring right out of the gate. The Altima adds an available 360-degree camera on its SR trim, a feature the K5 doesn't currently offer.

Nissan also offers available ProPILOT Assist, combining adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, while the K5 counters with its own available adaptive cruise system. Both sedans include a standard rearview camera, so neither buyer pays extra for the basics.
