In 2022, Kia replaced its Sedona minivan, made in 1998, with the Carnival. Kia calls the Carnival an MPV, for Multi-Purpose Vehicle, but most people will call it a minivan. No surprise to us, the Carnival is stiff competition against the rest of the current minivans on the market.

All 2023 Kia Carnivals for sale are FWD and have the same engine, a 3.5L V6 producing 290 hp, the most powerful in its class, and 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering an estimated 19 city and 26 hwy mpg. The Carnival's towing capacity is 3,500 lbs.

The 2023 Kia Carnival has three rows of seating and, depending on trim level, can seat 7 to 8 adults. Even with the third row in use, it has generous class-leading cargo space behind the rear seats, which can be folded into the floor for even more cargo room.

There are five trim levels: LX, LX Seat Package, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Standard on all levels is power sliding doors, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection and Warning, Lane Keeping and Following, Rear Cross-Traffic Avoidance, Rear Parking Sensors, Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™, as well ass 7-passenger seating, push-button and remote start.

The base model has an 8-inch touchscreen, but all other trim levels have a 12.3-inch touchscreen.

The LX Seat Package adds heated front seats, a power driver's seat, second-row Side-Flex Seating (an innovation that allows the second-row seats to move sideways), and can accommodate 8 passengers.

The EX adds 19-inch wheels, Navigation, satellite radio, Smart Cruise Control, a power tailgate, an intercom system that allows the front row occupants to communicate clearly with 2nd- and 3rd-row passengers, and a camera to observe passengers. There's also WiFi, a wireless phone charger, and more.

On the SX the wheels are black, and there are roof rails, dual 12.3-inch panoramic screens, Blind Spot and Surround View Monitors, a power front passenger seat, Rear Parking Collision Avoidance, and an available rear seat entertainment package.

The entertainment package is a must-have for families, in that it comes pre-loaded with YouTube and other popular apps, and is also pre-loaded with links to content for kids.

Additionally, on the SX Prestige, there are dual sunroofs, leather seat trim, LED lighting inside and out, a Bose premium audio system, and available 7-passenger seating with second-row VIP Lounge Seats, which recline fully like First Class airline seats and even have power footrests! That seating option nearly blurs the line between a minivan and a limousine.

Naturally, every 2023 Kia Carnival comes with Kia's 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, as well as Kia's 10-year/10,000-mile powertrain warranty.
